VO-IP take control of your radio transceiver !

Now with internet, control your radio station at distance become easy,
VO-IP technologie is perfect to do this action !

Todo - Transceiver frequency command over network (RS232 over TCPIP adaptater driver program)
- Add audio isolator system (phone transformer, isolator)

How it work ?

To control your station you need a VO-IP solution, to do that you've got the choice : SKYPE or Eqso, depend to your country you need also a VPN solution (explain in this article).
In France you have to use Eqso but with a Virtual Private Network, because it's forbidden to used public network to send radiocommunication !

Sound part

If you've a VOX on your transceiver :

Emission TX part

With Eqso if you don't have VOX and you want to use COM port :

[COM-x serial port] ---------> [interface tx commutation] ----------> [Transceiver TX command (GND+TX)]

With a VOX : built your VOX interface if you don't have one :

If your transceiver don't have VOX system (voice control emission) you've to build a small electronic circuit,
i'm in this case here because i've FT290 radio transceiver.

Many thanks to Jean F6HCC for his precious help for electronic realisation,
this assembly also reduce audio level from pc sound card and in direction of pc sound card.

The system use bridge divider for the sound input.


Relay using to commut TX/RX, it's protected via a simple diode (see on the left).

The system can use VOX system or build-in radio transceiver VOX, it enable TX transmitting when voice is detected (for 3sec for example).

Todo in next circuit : Desable transmitting is system is blocked (after 2min for example).

Command radio relay !

It's also possible but you need to transmit inside duplex mode (easy on FT290), and .... play a sound at 1790Hz !
I you need MP3/WAV file i've prepare this file :

Inside SKYPE it's possible to import custom sound and play it inside conversation :

Create your VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK

If you live in France you need VPN to transfert data (Virtual Private Network), because is forbiden to link a radio network with a public network like INTERNET

My setup VO-IP

I purpose here to present my configuration, because an exemple is more that a lot of "blabla"



In this schema you can see 2 differents sites first is Bretagne and second is Paris, also two internet connection via FREEBOX
the repeter is located in IN87HS :

- First site : "the gateway" : EQSO Server, link to network via ethernet to OpenVpn linux server (can be windows also).

- Second : "Client" : simple freebox, laptop with OpenVPN client, configuration can be also : 3G network and laptop (probably soon :)).
